DC Mayor Confirms 64 Aboard Plane, 3 In Helicopter Crash

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser confirmed early Thursday that both aircraft are in the water. There were 64 people aboard the American Airlines plane and three in the military helicopter. The primary focus at the moment is on rescuing people, with all personnel dedicated to this task.

Bowser mentioned that the recovery efforts and investigation will be led by the National Transportation Safety Board. American Airlines had earlier reported that there were 60 passengers and four crew members on the crashed plane.
