Days after three UPSC aspirants drowned in a coaching institute’s basement due to sudden flooding, Old Rajinder Nagar was flooded again on Wednesday evening amid heavy rain.
This was just two hours after Delhi minister Atishi Singh met protesting students to assuage their concerns. The protesters have repeatedly flagged the need for government accountability and alleged that authorities turned a blind eye to their previous complaints about poor drainage in the area.
After the three deaths last week, government agencies had swung into action, and launched a crackdown on illegal construction in the area known for housing several UPSC coaching centres.
On Wednesday, protesting students were compelled to leave due to rising water levels.
