Dawn French shares rare snap of husband on wedding day as they celebrate 10 year anniversary

Dawn French has shared a rare insight into her marriage with her husband Mark Bignell on their wedding day, marking 10 years since the pair tied the knot in 2013.

The 65-year-old British comedy icon first got together with Mark, who she has described as a "very cheerful man," three years after splitting from her first and long-term husband Lenny Henry, who she shares daughter Billie with, now 32.

The couple reportedly dated for a year before they took the stroll down the altar in an intimate ceremony held in the picturesque coastal town of Newquay in Cornwall where they live today.

Dawn married Lenny back in 1984 but the couple hit the end of the road on their marriage in 2010, with Dawn previously opening up about the struggles she endured with the divorce.

In an interview back in 2017 with the Mirror, Dawn said that the split left her "broken," saying: "I have seen what happens if you stay broken. When I was single, I found my new self. But I think it is OK to grieve over a relationship."

Sharing the post with her 625,000 Instagram followers, Dawn wrote in the caption: “10 years married = tin.

“So today I received a tin. Full of hearts,” along with the hashtag keeper.

The post, which shows the tin and its contents and a blurry snap of the happy couple on their wedding day quickly racked up thousands of ‘likes’ and comments.

Lots of her famous pals responded to the post, with fellow divorcee Davina McCall leaving a string of hearts and reiterating the sentiment that Mark is a keeper.

“Aww gorgeous happy days," another fan of the post wrote whilst someone else added, “Be still my heart. This is so special."

While a third person gushed: “Special or what!”

In the wedding photo, Dawn can be seen beaming in a V-neck white dress as she holds hands with Mark, who is dressed in a smart suit.

Following her divorce from Lenny, Dawn didn't appear to be keen on the idea of finding love once more, describing the process as "excruciating" as she isn't an "accomplished flirter."

Meanwhile, Lenny and Dawn have still remained friends despite their divorce.

Speaking in an interview she said she is "amazed" at their friendship and how they managed to seemingly transfer smoothly from a 25-year marriage to a lasting friendship.

Lenny revealed that when they split there is usually someone in the marriage that wants to break up more than the other.

He said: "I think maybe one of us did, then the other one did, and then the other did over a period of time and then, in the end, we thought, ‘Oh, actually maybe we both do’."
