Davy Fitzgerald and wife Sharon O'Loughlin welcome first child together

Clare GAA legend Davy Fitzgerald and his wife Sharon O'Loughlin have welcomed their first child together, a baby boy.

RSVP Live report that Sharon gave birth to little Dáithí Óg back in May, but the couple kept the news quiet until now.

Davy said the new arrival is "one of the best things that has ever happened" to him and he's feeling "chuffed".

The Ireland's Fittest Family star is already dad to a 25-year-old son, Colm, from his previous marriage to Ciara Flynn.

"It's different for Colm," Davy told the Sunday World.

"Like 25 years on and he ends up with a brother. You know what, I don't think that's a bad thing either that there's two of them together now."

The delighted dad said Sharon will barely let him help with the baby as she's "very attached" to him.

"Let's put it like this. Sharon is amazing at what she does," he continued.

"Sharon won't let Dáithí Óg out of her sight.

"She won't f**king let me do anything, so she won't!

"She is very attached to him, but you know it's been a good thing for us."

Davy admitted that he and Sharon have kept the news under wraps as they are a "very private" couple.

"We haven't really broadcast it too much," he said.

"We want Dáithí Óg to have his own chance to be very normal and do his own thing."

With Davy boasting a decorated GAA career as both a player and manager and Sharon a former championship camogie player, will they encourage Dáithí Óg to follow in their footsteps?

"I might get him ready with a golf club or something, we'll see what comes," he said. "Whatever he wants to do, we'll support him.

"He might just stick to the golf and make life easy.

"Dáíthí Óg is in trouble, between my competitive nature and, trust me, Sharon is ultra-competitive.

"She's as competitive as it gets, so he has no chance."

Davy and fellow Clare native Sharon tied the knot in 2019 after 13 years together. Sharon is the sister of Ger 'Sparrow' O'Loughlin, Davy Fitz's former Banner team-mate.
