Davis Rangers future state of play revealed as Beale makes 'off the pitch' admission

Michael Beale has revealed a decision on Steven Davis' future as a Rangers player is yet to be made.

The Ibrox boss explained that talks will be put off over the veteran midfielder's future until he has completed rehabilitation on an ACL injury.

Davis has been out injured since December but is working his way back to fitness.

The Northern Ireland international is set to be out of contract in the summer but was not on the list of released players announced by the club on Tuesday.

Rangers had confirmed summer exits for Allan McGregor, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Filip Helander and Scott Arfield this afternoon.

Now, Beale has opened up on the situation with Davis with both parties keen to wait until he is back fit before any decision on his future.

And the manager suggested Davis could move into an 'off the pitch' position if he decides to call time on his playing career.

He told Rangers TV: "Steven is in the middle, really, of a long-term rehabilitation from the ACL injury in December.

"It's important that we allow Steven to get back to full fitness and at that stage of full fitness a decision will be made on what Steven wants to do in terms of playing or going into a role off the pitch.

"We want to keep our options open there, so does Steven, so that's one that we'll update on as we go."
