Davina McCall’s boyfriend Michael Douglas has revealed they have talked about getting married.
The former Big Brother host, 57, had brain surgery in November after doctors found a 14mm wide brain tumour during a health check-up.
McCall has since revealed she is recovering well after the “very rare” benign brain mass was removed.
Her partner Douglas - who was her hairstylist friend of 20 years before they began dating in 2019 - has now revealed the pair “often talk” about tying the knot.
When asked if they would get married, the 49-year-old told Closer: “I don’t know. We often talk about it, but I don’t think so.
“What I love about us is we’re not tied to each other and that’s what keeps us there in a way.”
Douglas added: “There’s something nice about being independent people so we’re working out what it would mean for us to be married and if it’s something we should do and if we need to do it or not.
“I actually don’t know the answer and neither does she, but it’s a funny thing that is hovering around us all the time.”
McCall and Douglas began dating two years after her split from husband Matthew Robertson.
The TV presenter was married to Robertson from 2000 until 2017 and they share three children - Holly, Chester, and Tilly.
Before that, she was married to Andrew Leggett from 1997 to 1999.
Douglas has supported McCall throughout her surgery ordeal and shared an update on her health after the operation.
“Davina is out of surgery and according to the surgeon it was textbook,” he wrote on Instagram in November.
“She’s currently recovering in ICU as a precaution, as you can imagine she’s utterly exhausted. Thanks so much for all the love from everyone on here.. it’s powerful stuff, we are super grateful.”
McCall previously revealed she doesn’t have plans to marry Douglas at the moment as she likes their “easy” romance as it is.
“That’s not even on the table, it’s just not. He’s been [married before] so we both just feel like we are happy, let’s not rock the boat. Let’s just keep things on the down low,” she told The Sun in September.
“We’re not interested. I knew Michael for so many years [before we got together] that there were no questions to ask like that. I know him. It was easy.
“I love Michael. And I always feel like it’s too precious to just talk about in public. I just want to keep it for me.”
