Davide Sanclimenti's age baffles Love Island fans compared to Gemma Owen

There's quite an age gap between Love Island's Davide Sanclimenti and Gemma Owen and fans have got the ick.

At 27, the Italian is eight years older than Michael Owen's daughter, but he may pick the dressage rider to be coupled up with.

As the series kicked off last night viewers were expecting fireworks as the gals all took a shine to the chiselled hunk.

The show has its first couples for now, after a twist saw the public play Cupid.

But this is all set to change, as Davide learned at the end of last night's episode that he would pick a girl to couple up with.

Things got saucy earlier in the show between Gemma and the Italian, who came in halfway through the episode.

The 19-year-old was told to kiss the boy she fancied most and made a beeline for Davide.

The influencer has been paired up with Liam Llewelyn, but it looks like she's got her sights set on the new boy.

However, with the considerable age gap between the pair, fans are perplexed.

One said: "Gemma 19 and Davide 27 can’t get my head around the age difference."

Another wrote: "Apparently Gemma only turned 19 a month ago. If Davide picks her knowing her age it’s gonna be so WRONG."

While a third mused: "Can you imagine if Davide picks Gemma with that age gap?? That's a tad nuts if you think about it - She's 19 and he's 27."

Gemma's age didn't just shock the fans.

The Islanders also couldn't get over the fact she was still a teenager.

Quizzed over her date of birth by the other girls in the villa, Gemma laughed: "Yeah, not many people expect it."

However, while she may be just 19, the famous offspring has her sights set on success, saying she'd love to be a billionaire like make-up mogul Kylie Jenner.

“I really like the Kardashians, I watch them on telly and I follow them on social media," she gushed.

“I think they are all good, powerful business women, what they have made for themselves is really inspiring, I’m a massive fan. Who wouldn’t like to be a billionaire like Kylie?”

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
