David Warner forced off during Australia v England T20 after head injury

Australia star David Warner was forced off the field during the second T20I against England after hitting his head hard on the ground while attempting to take a catch.

Warner misjudged the chance, initially running in from the boundary before realising Moeen Ali had timed the shot brilliantly. He then backpedalled and was forced to jump to try and take the catch.

The ball ultimately went through his hands and all the way for six, with Warner landing awkwardly on the ground and hitting his head hard. The impact looked nasty and the 35-year-old was quickly taken off the field to undergo a concussion test.

Steve Smith replaced him as the substitute fielder, but Warner passed his concussion and fitness test and returned to open the batting for Australia.

After skipper Aaron Finch won the toss, Australia put England into bat and removed the dangerous opening partnership of Jos Buttler and Aaron Finch inside the powerplay.

Buttler holed out off Pat Cummins for 17, while Hales was out for four after chipping a catch to Warner at mid-off off Marcus Stoinis.

Ben Stokes and Harry Brook were also dismissed for single-figure scores, leaving England in trouble at 54-4 in the ninth over of their innings.

However, Dawid Malan and Moeen shared a brilliant 92 run partnership to help rescue their side, with Malan passing fifty in his fiftieth T20I appearance for England.

Moeen fell to Zampa for an excellent 44 off 27 balls, while Malan was dismissed by Stoinis for a 49-ball 82 in the final over as England posted 178-7.
