David Walliams' split from wife after 'unreasonable behaviour' and her new man

David Walliams has been a darling of the British entertainment industry for years - with a fortune of around £17m to boast from his career in the spotlight.

As well as being a popular judge on ITV 's talent show, Britain's Got Talent, Walliams is also a talented author of children's books.

In his role on BGT, alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon, Walliams is seen as one of the most kind-hearted and often joins acts on stage.

But before he joined the iconic stint show, he was once part of one of the strongest couples in showbiz - and we're not referring to Little Britain co-host Matt Lucas.

David's marriage to model Lara Stone was highly publicised ahead of their shocking split in 2015, the Mirror reports.

The pair, who share son Alfred together, went through a messy divorce after claims from the comedian that his partner cited "unreasonable behaviour".

The couple had begun dating in 2009 after reportedly meeting at a Chelsea football match.

Lara admitted she was "very nervous" on their first date but soon knew they shared a "very mean sense of humour".

Speaking to Dutch Vogue, she said: "I was in the cab home afterward and thought, I should text him and thank him for dinner. When I did, he texted back, 'Who's this?'"

The couple announced their engagement in January 2010 and got hitched in a lavish London ceremony at Claridge’s hotel with celebrity A-lister guests, including Sir Elton John, Russell Brand and Stephen Fry.

Only four months later, the couple wed in front of family and friends at Claridge's Hotel in London in a lavish £80,000 ceremony.

Throughout the years, Lara has worked with some of the biggest names in fashion, and even posed with Justin Bieber for a campaign for Calvin Klein.

The blonde beauty has appeared on magazine covers for British, French and Italian Vogue. She has also starred in campaigns for Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Versace and Prada.

Despite her high profile and glamorous career, her and David's divorce was quite the opposite.

David was said to be "devastated" at the split, which came less than two years after Lara gave birth to their son.

In 2015, Lara agreed to take the blame in the divorce proceedings to end their five-year marriage as the BGT star cited her "unreasonable behaviour" as grounds for divorce.

However, according to insiders, it was the model who wanted to legally separate.

"David didn't want to divorce and desperately hoped they could work things out," a source told The Sun at the time.

"But Lara was insistent and David accepted for the sake of Alfred."

"It was easier for David to divorce Lara and claim it was her unreasonable behaviour," the source continued.

"She was willing to accept that as the reason."

Lara has since admitted that she found the amount of fame that came with dating David to be difficult.

She explained: "I'd been at his house and was walking back to the Tube and this car was driving next to me and they were taking pictures the whole time. It was just so bewildering and terrifying."

The couple have since gone their separate ways with Lara tying the knot with a new man she met two years after her separation from her ex-husband.

In July last year, Lara got married to David Grievson after the pair found love on dating app Tinder in 2018.

Lara confirmed that she and her husband were engaged in February 2020 after two years of dating, with Lara showing off her diamond ring at a VIP dinner in Mayfair.

In a series of sweet snaps on Instagram, the Dutch model announced that she had wed her fiance in a private ceremony.

At the time, she captioned a set of black and white photos as the newlyweds smiled as they made their way out of the church.

She wrote: "Got to marry my love this weekend!"

Since their split in 2015, David has been romantically linked with a string of younger women, including Made In Chelsea star Ashley James, Hollywood actress Kate Beckinsale, Playboy model Emily Agnes and Miss Norway contender Sylvia Flote.

Following his ex-wife's new marriage an David's long string of relationships, the comedian is hoping to settle down after reports that he's looking for love.

David has allegedly joined the celebrity dating app, Raya, in hopes of striking up a romance.

The judge is supposedly using pictures of him with his two border terriers Bert and Ernie on his profile.

In one picture shared by The Sun, David is seen cuddling one of his dogs as another showed the star looking dapper in a black suit with a spotted pocket square.

A third showed him dressed up as a woman for one of his television sketches.

"It looks more like a chance to adopt a homeless puppy than to go on a date. I half expected it to say, 'Enjoys long walks and lots of stroking'," a source told the publication.

"Obviously David recognises there’s a certain appeal to his cute pets and has put them front and centre many of the pictures.

"In some of them you can barely even see him."
