David Tepper forcing the Panthers to take Bryce Young looks even worse after the QB was benched

The Bryce Young era seems to be over in Carolina.

Andy Dalton (!!!!) is reportedly being named the team’s starting quarterback moving forward this season after just two games from Young, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

It’s hard to believe we’re here with Young after basically just a single season. What makes this such a hard pill to swallow for Panthers fans is that this isn’t necessarily how things had to go.

The Panthers weren’t completely sold on Young. The team’s decision-makers were also considering C.J. Stroud or Anthony Richardson but took Young instead at the behest of owner David Tepper.

Here’s more from Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio:

“It’s believed in some league circles that the Panthers drafted Bryce Young because Tepper wanted him, and that the people who work for him are saying they did, too, because they know what’s good for them. If/when Tepper fires Reich or others on the current coaching staff, it will be interesting to see whether reports emerge that, for example, key members of the football operation preferred C.J. Stroud or Anthony Richardson, but that they didn’t bother because the boss was getting whoever the boss wanted.”

Now, here we are. The experiment is over, and Tepper’s decision has set his organization back for years. What a shame.
