David Tennant's son Ty makes his TV debut in Casualty

David Tennant's adopted son made his TV debut last night, proving acting talent truly runs in the family.

Ty Tennant, 17 appeared in Casualty on BBC One on Saturday playing a young patient called Aaron who suffered a seizure.

The teenager is the son of David's wife Georgia Moffett, 34, but the Doctor Who star, 48, officially adopted Ty the same year the couple had their first child.

Georgia, who has been married to the Dr Who star since 2011, was bursting with pride for her boy on Twitter .

She tweeted: "I am so proud of Ty Tennant tonight on BBC One’s Casualty .

"He was so good they didn’t feel the need to crush him to death in a lift shaft…"

Georgia's joke was referencing her own demise in the soap as Heather Whitefield, who died when she became trapped under a lift.

When asked whether he'd got acting tips from his dad, Ty told the Daily Mail : "I got tips from everyone.

"I'm so young in my career and I'm still learning a lot and I'm so lucky to have these people around me who know the industry very well.

"And they're just very inspirational so that's something I can really thrive on. Just having these people who know their stuff."

David and Georgia share Olive, eight, Wilfred, five, and Doris, four.

The children come from good acting stock as not only did David play the Doctor, Georgia's father Peter Davison was the fifth incarnation.
