DAVID Tennant has opened the Baftas ceremony in true Scottish style – with actor James McAvoy making a special appearance.
The acting legend is hosting the annual awards show for the second time and opened the ceremony wearing a kilt.
The ceremony on Sunday kicked off with a sketch showing Tennant in his dressing room, where he was given advice from several famous faces, including actor Brian Cox.
(Image: BBC) Cox told Tennant: "You're looking sharp in that kilt. Remember, it's not just a piece of clothing – it's a symbol of pride, tradition and strength.
"You're carrying the spirit of Scotland with you. Come on, you can do this!"
He then broke into song with a rendition of The Proclaimer's 500 Miles, which Tennant then continued into the main auditorium where he performed the song in front of a live audience.
Many celebrities joined in – including Scots actor James McAvoy, who sang the chorus with Tennant.
