David Tennant called the Tories a "team of f***wits" in a savage rant on Channel 4's Last Leg.
The Doctor Who star, 51, was on the show speaking about the widespread industrial action affecting the country.
Highlighting the sterling efforts of the NHS during lockdown, he said: "After everything that’s gone on through the pandemic, the nurses are going on strike to be paid for what they’re worth – it makes you want to spit, doesn’t it?
"And you’ve got Rishi going, 'Listen we’d love to give them a pay rise, but unfortunately, mad Queen Liz put the economy in a dumpster fire, so my hands are tied.'"
After an uncomfortable pause, the actor quickly clarified which Liz he was talking about, saying it was former Prime Minister Ms Truss - and not the late monarch, Elizabeth II.
He joked: "Woah, I nearly ended up in the tower! The Liz that nobody liked!"
Continuing his attack on the government, David continued: "It’s the lack of accountability.
"They’re going, 'There’s nothing we can do, because the last Prime Minister has nothing to do with us f**ked it all up!'
"They’re all the same team of f**kwits!"
When asked by host Adam Hills who he wants to see running the country, David quipped: "Somebody!"
As the audience whooped and cheered after his speech, viewers at home took to Twitter praising the Scot for his opinions.
One said: "David Tennant calling the Tories a bunch of f***wits on @TheLastLeg is f***ing class."
Another wrote: "They’re all the same team of f***wits” #thelastleg David Tennant for Prime Minister?"
While a third penned: "They’re all the same team of f***wits” I LOVE U SO MUCH DAVID TENNANT."
David is returning to Doctor Who later this year and popped up in a trailer for the upcoming 60th-anniversary specials of the sci-fi show in December.
The fan favourite made a surprise return to the show when Jodie Whittaker regenerated earlier this last year, becoming the 14th iteration of the Doctor.
In a new teaser trailer released on Christmas Day, David's character is seen on a mission to save his old companion Donna Noble (played by returning star Catherine Tate).
Speaking of his return on ITV ’s This Morning to hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, the actor said: "It was like being handed a very lovely present. It was joyous. It was great fun. It was a very happy joyous time on set 15 years ago, and returning to that could've been - might've felt awkward, it might have felt difficult. I might not have been able to run as fast..."
He continued: "We had a lovely time. Russell T Davies is back running the show, it felt like we'd never been away... That's all you're getting!"
