Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman fears Marcelo Bielsa's exit will result in a "negative vibe" around the club.
Bielsa was relieved of his duties at Elland Road on last week after over three-and-a-half-years in charge – the most time he has spent at any club during his managerial career.
The 66-year-old developed a legendary status for himself during his spell at the Whites, as he helped to rekindle the relationship between the club and its supporters, as well as guiding them back to the Premier League.
Despite that, Leeds fan Seaman believes that his sacking was ‘harsh’ and is a little apprehensive about how the players will respond to his departure.
Speaking on his Seaman Saves Podcast, he said: “I was gutted. Obviously I’m not the only Leeds fan, apparently they were demonstrating outside the training ground at Leeds and how often does that happen - when fans don’t want a manager to be sacked?
“I felt it was really harsh - he’s had three and a half seasons there. He’s had three brilliant seasons, this season it hasn’t gone as good as we thought, but when you’ve had your spine ripped out of your team for as long as what we have. A lot of Leeds fans have been saying they’d rather go down with Bielsa and have him to bring us back up.
“I still find it really hard, even with the players, the way they’ve come out on social media and how much they like Bielsa - I feel like it’s got a negative vibe about it. The new guy Jesse Marsch, he’s got a lot to do. Defensively it needs tightening up. For me that’s the main thing he’s got to do.”
