David Seaman has claimed Newcastle United "are due a win" ahead of their clash with Manchester City as he backed Eddie Howe's side to help Arsenal in the Premier League title race by taking points off the reigning champions.
Newcastle kick-off this weekend's round of Premier league matches against Man City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The two sides played out a thrilling 3-3 draw the last time they met back in August at St James' Park, with Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier all finding the back of the net for the hosts.
Two quick-fire goals from Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva however would see Man City battle back from 3-1 down to share the points. Seaman has now backed the Magpies to stop Pep Guardiola's side from winning once again this season as the former Arsenal shot-stopper said it was about time that the Tyneside club turned around their poor run of form.

"Newcastle, it's about five or six games now since they've had a win so they are due a win or some sort of result," he told the Seaman Says podcast. "I've got everything crossed that it's this game, as to take points off Man City would be ace for Arsenal.
"But the way you see Man City playing, you're just thinking whoever they play - apart from when they play Arsenal - you should just put how many goals [they're going to win by].
"They just look like they're going to score loads all the time. People are even questioning whether Man City are better without [Erling] Haaland. Really? They just look like a proper machine.
"I feel that Newcastle have got a good chance of getting something out of this," Seaman added. "I think the best that they [Newcastle] can hope for is a draw, I'm going to go for a 1-1 draw. And I will be very happy with that!"
