David Raya admits “every player has goals” amid links with a move to Tottenham.
The Brentford goalkeeper has been touted as a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris at Spurs after playing a starring in west London as Thomas Frank’s side continue to impress in the Premier League.
While Lloris has been a key player in north London for over a decade now, the 36-year-old has made two glaring errors in consecutive home games.
Sunday’s disastrous own goal in defeat to north London rivals Arsenal followed another mishap against Aston Villa, in which the Frenchman spilled Douglas Luiz’s speculative long shot to allow Ollie Watkins and Emi Buendia to combine and give the away side the lead.
At 36, Lloris clearly does not represent a long-term option at Spurs and will see his contract expire next summer.
Raya, along with England international Jordan Pickford, have both been linked to Tottenham as a result.
Speaking to AS, the Brentford star said: “Every player has goals and wants to improve. Now I am focused on my team and in the summer, we will see what happens.
“If they want to do business, they will have to do it but there is a long season left and I am only focused on doing it well. In the summer, we will assess my situation.”
Raya is also only under contract until 2024 and Frank has confirmed the Spanish international is happy at the club.
“I said many times I think he is among the best in the league and he has performed fantastic for us, but he is going nowhere,” he said.
“Let’s see. We are interested. I know David is very happy here, but there will be ongoing discussions of course.”
