Longtime College GameDay analyst David Pollack was among the 20 on-air personalities laid off by ESPN on Friday, as Disney implemented its latest round of budget cuts and reorganization within ESPN.
Pollack, who had been a presence on College GameDay for 14 years, was a mainstay on set after his standout college career at Georgia and an NFL career cut short due to a broken neck.
Pollack, as classy as ever, shared the news himself on Twitter after it was initially reported by Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.
“What is up, everybody? I think a lot of the news came out today and y’all heard I will not be brought back to College GameDay next year or to ESPN,” he began. “I just wanted to say thank you to so many people. I just appreciate everyone along the journey … 12, 13 years ago ESPN taking a chance on me and all the people I get to work with, man, I got to work with so many great people and do so many things that was so awesome for so many years. I’m just very, very thankful for it.”
As expected, Pollack isn’t sure what’s next for him.
“I don’t know what’s next. I have no clue what’s next in my life, but one thing God’s shown me all along the way is that He is for me, He is not against me. NFL, broke my neck, career’s over, find TV, found coaching over the last couple years. Found speaking in the last couple years, so I know God’s got something amazing for me. I don’t know what it’s going to be, but thank you to all of my teammates and all the people who played a part in it and all of you that watched and cheered me on. I don’t know what’s next but I know it’s going to be amazing.”

Pollack was the only member of the College GameDay set who was let go on Friday. Rece Davis, Lee Corso, Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit and Pat McAfee are all expected to return. McAfee signed a lucrative deal to bring his weekly television show to ESPN from FanDuel, expanding his role at the network where he debuted as a member of the College GameDay set last fall.
