Long-term: David Moyes has big plans for West Ham despite current struggles

The Scot is under increasing pressure after a poor start to the season even despite a summer spend of around £170m.
Saturday’s defeat a Wolves made it six losses in seven games either side of the World Cup, leaving West Ham in a relegation battle.
While Standard Sport understand Moyes is expected to remain in charge of next weekend’s crunch meeting with Everton amid strong backing from decision-makers, a loss to Frank Lampard’s side would surely only ramp up calls to see him replaced.
Still, the 59-year-old is confident of turning things around and maintains a long-term vision for his team.
Moyes returned to the club in December 2019 and led West Ham to sixth and seventh placed finishes, as well as to the Europa League semi-finals.
Speaking on The Diary of a CEO podcast, Moyes said: “I want to build a new West Ham, what does that mean? A lot of supporters might not like the sound of that.
“West Ham have moved to a new stadium, it’s not been appreciated by everybody, so we need to make the most we possibly can of it.
“It used to always do, when I was a manager... we’d say you get a flaky West Ham, they’re not that reliable, and you don’t know what West Ham team’s going to turn up.
“I want to change that culture. There’s so much room for improvement at West Ham, I think it’s got great potential to improve, and I hope that I get the opportunity to keep it going.
“There’s been success and it’s how we continue and build on it. I’m hoping that culturally I think we have changed a load of things, we’re not milky, not flakey, there’s a different atmosphere regarding how people see West Ham, I like the way we’ve done it. We’ve got some really exciting young players.”
West Ham have launched a £25m move for Lorient forward Terem Moffi in an effort to bring more firepower into the team, although any long-term rebuild may have to be done without Declan Rice.
Premier League leaders Arsenal have moved ahead of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City in the race to sign the England international this summer.
