David Moyes has provided an update on the fitness of West Ham stars Jarrod Bowen and Declan Rice ahead of their Europa League round-of-16 clash with Sevilla on Thursday night.
Rice missed the Hammers defeat to Liverpool on Saturday evening with an illness while Bowen limped off in the second half at Anfield as they were beaten 1-0.
Moyes will want his squad as strong as possible when they come up against a Sevilla side flying high in La Liga and with an excellent track record in the Europa League.
But it was a mixed update delivered by the boss on Wednesday evening, confirming that while Rice could be available, Bowen will definitely miss out.
"He [Rice] trained today for the first time. He was very unwell but he is with us and if fit and available he will certainly play," Moyes told his pre-match press conference.
"You only need to look at Saturday without Declan, [the performance] against the second-best team in England was as good as we have put in for a while.
"We made chances without him and did not concede chances without him. He is part of the team he is not the team."
On Bowen, Moyes confirmed his absence from the game in Seville, honestly admitting that his absence will hamper the east Londoners.
But he remained hopeful that the player will be back for the second-leg in the capital.
"It [missing Bowen] will limit us as Jarrod has an X factor," he said
"He has been in good form the last two to three months it will not change us a great deal but we are missing an important player.
"We hope Jarrod can make it for the second leg. He has had three or four scans and there is noting severe but we are hoping to find the cause and to get him back as he is important."
