David Moyes confirms West Ham suffer fresh triple injury blow ahead of Tottenham trip

West Ham United have suffered a double injury blow ahead of their Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur next Sunday.

The Hammers continued their improved form by coming from behind to hold Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium, with Emerson scoring against his former side to earn a point, cancelling out Joao Felix’s opening goal.

Left-back Aaron Cresswell joined the list of current absentees, missing the London derby through illness. Meanwhile, big money summer signings Lucas Paqueta and Nayef Aguerd were forced off in the tie with respective shoulder and groin issues.

Speaking on Paqueta and Aguerd, manager David Moyes admits he is unaware of the severity of their issues just yet, also revealing that captain Declan Rice played through the game with a virus.

“Losing Paqueta was a blow but we don’t know the answer yet. I don’t know, I haven’t asked the medical team but obviously, it’s a shoulder injury,” said Moyes. “I don’t know if he’s popped his shoulder or if it’s just the way he feels, I’ve not got the answer to that yet.

“Aguerd had a bit of a groin (issue). The big thing for us is that Declan Rice played with a virus today and you can probably see that he was the way he was because of a virus and it had a big effect on us.”

Moyes added: “Aaron Cresswell had a virus as well, he’s probably been ill for three or four days.”

There is potential concern over Paqueta that his issue of the collarbone injury he suffered in October that forced him out of three league matches, including trips to Liverpool and Manchester United.

Moyes said it is a concern, but the club are still monitoring the Brazilian following the game.

“That’s exactly right, that’s what we’re worried about,” Moyes told football.london . “I’ve not had a chance to talk to the medical team to see what they are saying about it.”
