West Ham United will be without Jarrod Bowen for their Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Sunday, David Moyes has confirmed.
The Hammers' top scorer has undergone scans on his heel injury that he suffered in last weekend's defeat to Liverpool at Anfield, which kept him out of West Ham's 1-0 Europa League loss to Sevilla on Thursday evening.
After the defeat, Moyes told reporters that he was still unsure of the exact nature of Bowen's injury but that it was unlikely to be a serious problem.
However, the Irons boss revealed on Friday afternoon that the forward would be unavailable for this weekend's Premier League fixture against Villa despite seeing some improvement from him.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game, Moyes said: "We’re just recovering and checking. I can’t give you a complete answer. We’ve come through relatively unscathed. Jarrod isn’t going to be available for the game but we hope he can make some improvement."
"Of course, we're missing Jarrod," added Moyes when asked how Bowen's absence had been felt. "But we've only not had him for one game, against Sevilla. Did we miss him? Yes. But I think we coped without him last night. But we could do with his goals in the next months or so.
"It's a really difficult injury to diagnose but we hope we can get him closer to fitness"
