West Ham United boss David Moyes admits that he had targeting adding a new attacker to their ranks after signing Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo.
The Hammers completed their fourth signing of the summer on Tuesday night by bringing in Scamacca for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £30.5million off the back of a campaign where he scored 16 Serie A goals to help his former side to an 11th-placed finish.
Speaking after the signing was announced, Moyes admitted that the club had targeted signing more options up front and that he received plenty recommendations over the striker, who has seven senior international caps to his name.

“We’ve been looking to add more strength to our attacking options for a while, so we’re delighted to have got Gianluca in,” Moyes told West Ham’s club website.
“He comes really well recommended – and we’re looking forward to working with him. He’s a young centre-forward with a really bright future ahead of him.”
Scamacca’s arrival takes the Hammers’ summer spending to north of £80m following other summer acquisitions of Alphonse Areola, Nayef Aguerd and Flynn Downes. They have also been credited with interest in Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back Filip Kostic and Napoli central midfielder Piotr Zielinski.
Should they fail to sign Serbian internation Kostic, West Ham have been linked with interest in Burnley’s Maxwell Cornet as a potential alternative for the 2022 Europa League winner.
