David Moyes breaks silence on Celtic job amid Ange Postecoglou exit talk

David Moyes has broken his silence on speculation linking him with the Celtic job.

The West Ham manager is the bookies’ favourite to become the next Parkhead boss with Ange Postecoglou currently linked with Tottenham Hotspur.

Steve Clarke is next in the market at 4/1 to return to the SPFL after three years in charge of the Scotland national team.

A return for club legend Scott Brown is 7/1, while Brendan Rodgers (9/1) and Neil Lennon (14/1) are outsiders to return to the Celtic Park dugout.

Quizzed about the Celts links, Moyes today replied: “I’ve never even considered it.

“I’m West Ham manager and I’m really enjoying my period here.

“I’m hopefully trying to continue growing a really good football club so I’ve not given it any consideration.

“Through my years I’ve been linked with lots of jobs at different times but I have to say I’m really happy at the moment and I’m settled where I am.

“The club have been so good to me and we’re enjoying the journey we’re on.”

Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou has stressed that the chance to join the treble-winning Celtic managers is far too important to allow talk of his future to disturb his focus on Saturday’s Scottish Cup final.

Beating Championship side Inverness at Hampden will give Postecoglou’s team a clean sweep of domestic trophies and make it five out of six available since he arrived from Yokohama F Marinos in Japan in June 2021.

But much of the build-up to the game has been dominated by increased speculation over Postecoglou’s future amid reports the former Australia head coach is Tottenham’s preferred managerial candidate.

“Somebody else was favourite last week, wasn’t he? So, it doesn’t register.

“I get all the interest and why people love to speculate on these things. But we have worked really, really hard to get ourselves into this position and, for me to let my mind wander about anything else than getting our team prepared for a big day on Saturday, is just not who I am.”
