David Moran has another year in him for Kerry, says Kerins O'Rahillys boss William Harmon

Kerins O'Rahillys manager William Harmon believes that David Moran has enough in the tank to go again with Kerry.

The long-serving midfielder is expected to make his intentions known with regard to his inter-county career in the near future following the club’s All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Kilmacud Crokes having won his third All-Ireland in the green and gold last July.

The 34-year-old was in fine form as O’Rahillys pushed hot favourites Crokes all the way and, indeed, saw a last gasp goal effort cleared off the line that denied his side extra time.

“Tell me if there is a better midfielder in Kerry,” said Harmon. “He’s a phenomenal man, a phenomenal person, a phenomenal player.

“Today out there, I’m looking forward to watching back but I think some of the fielding was top of the range stuff and I think he gave a real exposition of high-fielding and catching. He deserves that because he’s put in a massive effort.”

Clearly, Harmon feels that he has another season left in him at the highest level.

“I think he has but I suppose the only man that can answer that is David Moran. He was phenomenal all year I thought.

“If you watch all the games, against Templenoe in the county final he was brilliant but that’s not for me to answer that question.

“David Moran will take time out, reflect, it’s been a long two years. We’ve had not much break over two years so I think David is the only man to answer that.”

Crokes boss Robbie Brennan acknowledged how his charges struggled against the aerial ability of both Moran and Tommy Walsh.

He said: “No, we haven’t come up against that - that’s frightening size. The lads are just scary, and add in the quality of football they have.

“So we were just working on stuff to try and disrupt David and try and stand in front of him from behind or the side but he’s just… no wonder - three All-Irelands in three different decades for one of the greatest counties ever, so it’s not a surprise and we certainly didn’t win that battle, that’s for sure.”
