While there's a slew of people in this generation's pool of It girls, Lourdes Leon is making her own unique mark. As the daughter of famed superstar Madonna, it's easy to accredit her newfound stardom to her mother, but Leon is forging her own path. Outside of being a dancer and a singer under the moniker Lolahol, the 27-year-old has ventured into modeling, most notably appearing on the cover of Vogue in 2021. Now she's starring in David Koma's Resort 2025 campaign that celebrates a continuous cycle of change.
Centered around a "profound metamorphosis," the brand drew inspiration from visual artist Isabelle Albuquerque and model Veruschka's creative processes, from Albuquerque's life-size sculptures to the latter's transformative body painting. As this season's muse, Leon is seen posing in multiple body-contorting forms, including splits and bridges, wearing different pieces from the collection.
"Lourdes truly reflected the metamorphosis that inspired the collection, transforming both her body and the look with her dynamic movements," explains David Koma. "She is the perfect representation of the Koma Girl – a complex character who is tough yet sensual, free yet controlled, and youthful yet mature. Watching her move as a professional dancer on set was mesmerizing; she looked sophisticated and elegant while exuding an almost animalistic grace."
In hopes of capturing this same sense of metamorphosis, Koma's offerings play on textures like sequin skirts with raffia trim and feather-like seams on dresses. The collection also juxtaposes different aesthetics like cowboy core and Renaissance-inspired metallics in the form of crystal mesh bikini pants, silver metallic chain skirts and black cowhide jackets.
