Caretaker boss David Gray says he will leave it to Ron Gordon to decide if he’s Hibs management material.
The 2016 Scottish Cup hero was back in temporary command of the team for the second time this season after Shaun Maloney’s shock sacking last week.
His first stint saw him register a win, a draw and a defeat - which came against Celtic in the League Cup final - as he stepped in to the void left by Jack Ross.
But he successfully managed to lift the gloom that has lingered over the Edinburgh outfit since back-to-back defeats to Hearts cost Maloney his job after just 120 days and the club a place in the top six and Europe next year by registering only their second win of 2022.
Ewen Henderson’s second-half winner had the fans singing Gray’s name but the former skipper is refusing throw his hat into the ring just yet.
“That decision has nothing to do with me,” he said. “This is all about a job I’ve been asked to do between now and the end of the season.
“We need to try and accumulate as many points as we can. It’s been a good start, we got three today and now our attention switches to Livingston.
“My future is irrelevant at the moment.”
The win means the slight threat of relegation hanging over Hibs has all but been removed, with second bottom St Johnstone 10 points behind.
But Gray added: “Until it’s mathematically safe, we would never say we are completely out of danger.
“But that was never the message going into the game.
“Our message was that we need to finish the season as best as we can.
“We need to use the disappointment of failing to achieve what we set out to do which was fourth place and European football.
“No one has denied that, and I have to say the reaction has been fantastic.
“The performance and attitude towards the game showed that.”
On-loan Celtic kid Henderson produced a cracker of a finish to beat Jak Alnwick at his near post and Gray hailed the 22-year-old, saying: “It was a great goal, he has that in his locker.
“He has been fantastic since he came in and he’s worked really hard in training.
“If he can add more goals to his game he’s going to be a top player.”
