David Edwards enters concussion protocol, ruled out vs. 49ers

The Los Angeles Rams have dealt with multiple injuries along the offensive line this season and they’ll be down another starter in Week 4 versus the San Francisco 49ers. David Edwards entered into concussion protocol on Saturday and the Rams have ruled him out for Monday night’s showdown with the 49ers.

The Rams are already without Brian Allen in the interior of their offensive line after the team’s starter center suffered a knee injury in Week 1. Allen is expected back in the next couple of weeks, but he’s also been ruled out for Monday’s matchup with the 49ers.

Edwards self-reported concussion symptoms on Saturday and Los Angeles immediately placed him into the league’s protocol. The Wisconsin product will need to clear the protocol next week if he’s going to be active against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5.

With Edwards sidelined, Bobby Evans is expected to start at left guard in Week 4. Evans has only made one start for Los Angeles since starting in seven games as a rookie in 2019.

To begin the season, the Rams have sustained injuries to Allen, Edwards, and Tremayne Anchrum in the interior of their offensive line, which isn’t ideal entering a matchup with a defensive line of the 49ers that features Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead, and Javon Kinlaw.
