David de Gea 'willing to take pay cut' to stay at Manchester United and more transfer rumours

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly willing to take a pay cut in order to remain at Old Trafford, with the shot-stopper out of contract at the end of the season.

As reported by the Sun, the Spaniard is desperate to remain with United and is hoping for a minimum three-year extension if he can agree a new deal with the club. The report states that the 32-year-old is looking for 'security' in regard to his new deal and is open to taking a pay cut.

The Manchester Evening News understands that De Gea, whose existing £375,000-a-week contract expires at the end of the season, could stay at Old Trafford, with United wanting to sort a new deal, but on reduced terms.

The Spanish shot-stopper lost his place in the Spain squad for the World Cup in Qatar, with Unai Simon, Robert Sanchez and David Raya all being preferred to the United man. Should De Gea remain at Old Trafford, there is likely to be more competition next season - with the Reds being linked with a move for Brentford goalkeeper Raya last week.

Elsewhere, Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that United have joined the race to sign Brazilian youngster Vitor Roque, but that they will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain.

The young forward has impressed for Club Athletico Paranaense, registering seven goals and three assists in 36 appearances for the Brazilian outfit. The 17-year-old is capable of playing on either wing, as well as through the middle.

The report claims that Roque has a £52.5m release clause, which could potentially prove to be a stumbling block if the Reds - or any other European side - look to make a move for the attacker.

United are expected to recruit a new striker in the summer transfer window. Erik ten Hag added Wout Weghorst to his ranks on loan until the end of the season, but the Reds are still keen to sign a forward following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in November.
