David de Gea makes shocking admission on Manchester United dressing room after Everton defeat

David de Gea has admitted Everton had 'more desire' than Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.

United returned from the international break with an underwhelming 1-1 draw against Leicester and they needed to bounce back versus Everton. They lost 1-0 to the relegation-threatened side instead, delivering yet another gutless display.

The season couldn't end quick enough for United. The Reds were expected to challenge for the Premier League but have been left fighting to qualify for the Europa League. Multiple departures are expected from the club in the summer.

The mentality of United's players has been questioned and De Gea's comments after Saturday's defeat were damning.

The Spaniard, the first player to emerge to face questions after the game, claimed Everton had 'more desire' than United.

"I don’t know what to say, to be honest," De Gea told BT Sport.

"We knew before today they were struggling and how difficult it was going to be.

"It's not the perfect atmosphere. You see today they were tired, nervous, they keep fighting, they had more desire.

"It's not acceptable."
