David de Gea admitted he would like to remain at Manchester United for "more years" after toppling Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper is out of contract come the end of the campaign, but the Red Devils hierarchy do boast the option of activating another year on his current deal. De Gea is one of five players who are expected to have another year added to their contracts in the summer, alongside Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw, Fred and Marcus Rashford, to protect their value as much as anything else.
After more than a decade between the sticks for United, De Gea is one of the most respected figures within the dressing room and is also the club's second-highest earner behind Cristiano Ronaldo, taking home around £350,000 a week.
De Gea has been Erik ten Hag's first choice this term, starting every game under the Dutchman so far and has two clean sheets in 11 games.
The former Spain No.1 could do very little about the strike from Alex Iwobi that put the Toffees in front early on, but goals from marquee summer signing Antony and club legend Cristiano Ronaldo were enough to send United back to Manchester with all three points.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, the goalkeeper discussed the game as well as how he feels to be a part of the team 11 years into his Old Trafford stay. "We controlled the game until maybe the last 10 minutes," the Spaniard claimed.
"It was massive for our confidence, we have to look forward to the next games. It's an honour to be here, it's a privilege. "It was great to be in goal today, with the team fighting for three points."

Pressed for comment on the speculation surrounding him potentially signing a new contract, De Gea added: "I'm just very focused on the games helping the team as much as I can.
"Of course, I would like to be here for more years, so let's see what happens in the future. I'm really, really happy here."
However, questions remain over whether Ten Hag is keen for De Gea to be his No.1 long term, amid a clash over playing styles. The United stopper is a more passive last line of defence than the ex-Ajax boss believes is ideal, with a starting position much closer to his goal line than Ten Hag prefers.
Nevertheless, at this juncture, he remains a critical piece in the Old Trafford jigsaw, as he has been for more than a decade.
