David de Gea and Juan Mata show support as Alex Telles hits major milestone with Man United win

Alex Telles brought up a major career milestone with Manchester United against Brighton on Tuesday night.

The full-back came on as a late substitute for Jadon Sancho at Old Trafford as United picked up their first win in three with a 2-0 victory to give their top four hopes a much-needed boost.

Telles was making his first appearance since returning to fitness after testing positive for Covid-19, having represented Brazil during the international break.

And in making his way onto the pitch in the 80th minute, the 29-year-old brought up a major milestone with the 400th appearance of his career.

Telles’ career has seen him make his way over from his homeland to Europe, having begun his career with Juventude and Gremio before signing for Galatasaray in 2014.

Since making the move to Turkey, the defender has taken in spells at Inter Milan and Porto, before he earned his move to Old Trafford in 2020.

And, celebrating his milestone after Tuesday’s win over Brighton, Telles thanked all of the clubs he has represented during his career.

“Feeling very happy for the victory and for reaching the milestone of 400 official games in my career,” Telles posted on Twitter and Instagram.

“Thanks to everyone who supported me from the beginning until today!”

Diogo Dalot, Juan Mata and David de Gea all showed their support in replying to Telles’ post, while United’s own Instagram account said: “Many more to come.”

Having made his return for United, Telles will now be aiming to win back his place in the side as they continue their push for the top four.

Luke Shaw has been back in the side in the Telles’ absence, but the Brazilian will hope to do enough to convince Ralf Rangnick to throw him back in against Leeds on Sunday.
