David de Gea addresses teammates' new behaviour that Manchester United fans are loving

Manchester United secured an important 1-0 win over West Ham United on Sunday afternoon - and the Reds had David de Gea and the defenders to thank for keeping a clean sheet.

The Spaniard was in impressive form against the Hammers at the weekend, with the 31-year-old making a number of key saves late on in the clash, while Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw all contributed tellingly.

De Gea celebrated furiously alongside Dalot and Martinez after preserving the three points for United at the death against West Ham, and the sight of United's goalkeeper and defenders celebrating after making goal-saving contributions has become a familiar theme this season.

Asked about the passion that has clearly been on show from De Gea and United's defenders this season, the 31-year-old told club media: "The team spirit has been growing and growing and you can see already in the games that everyone is together, we fight together and we win together.

"It's great to see the new players, they bring good energy and good experience as well and it's great to see them in the games."

When asked if the celebrations are something Ten Hag has encouraged, De Gea suggested the Dutchman is keen for his players to show passion but said it is ultimately down to the players.

He added: "As a player, you have to have your own spirit, it's not just only the manager, you have to feel the energy and try to help your teammates and be a team."
