David Datro Fofana has already made huge Chelsea admission ahead of proposed January transfer

Chelsea are negotiating a deal to sign David Datro Fofana from Molde in for £8.6million ahead of the January transfer window. Armando Broja suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a friendly against Aston Villa which led to Todd Boehly exploring a number of striker options to add to Graham Potter's squad.

Fofana has just one year left on his current deal at Molde and is now discussing personal terms ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge. Boehly has implemented a focus on signing talented youngsters shown by the arrivals of Cesare Casadei, Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina in the summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Joao Felix and Youssoufa Moukoko had all emerged as potential targets but it seems Todd Boehly will instead opt to sign the Molde striker. The 19-year-old has scored 15 goals and provided a further five assists for the Norwegian outfit so far this season.

Following the news that Chelsea are closing in on Fofana's signing, a video has emerged on social media of the 19-year-old being asked who his favourite club is. In the video, the Ivorian forward smiled and responded: "Chelsea!"

It seems Fofana is edging closer to a dream move to Stamford Bridge with the striker set to become the Blues' first signing of the January transfer window. Potter was always set to be backed by Boehly in his first transfer window in charge after inheriting Thomas Tuchel's squad back in September.

Fofana will compete against Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz for a starting spot in the starting XI, though the youngster can play on the right wing due to his electric pace and amazing physical attributes. His arrival would be yet another sign that the Blues are focusing on signing youth over experience under Boehly, with Potter having a strong track record for developing players into regular first team starters.
