David Coote To Quit Role As Premier League Official

The Premier League official was suspended by the PGMOL after the expletive video was leaked and Coote has now taken full responsibility for his actions.

During the expletive rant, Coote made a list of comments towards Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, with the video reportedly being filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

An investigation is now taking place by the PGMOL and the FA are also initiating their own probe into the issue, as Coote could be charged with an aggravated breach of FA rules after mentioning Klopp’s nationality in the video.

Outside of England, UEFA have also taken action against the Premier League ref by removing him from their list of officials for the upcoming international fixtures.

However, Coote is reportedly planning on taking actions into his own hands, as The Sun revealed that the 42-year-old will quit before he is sacked by the PGMOL.

How Much Money Will David Coote Lose?

If David Coote decides to quite, or is sacked, the the shamed referee is set to see £100,000 a year fall through his hands – with a return to British refereeing looking unlikely.

According to a source which was mentioned by The Sun, Coote could lose over £1m when you accumulate the salary over a few years.

Howard Webb, the leading figure at the PGMOL, has commented on the recent controversy surrounding Coote and confirmed that a full investigation is underway.

Webb said: “We became aware of a video on social media that we are taking very seriously. We have instigated a full investigation. David Coote has been suspended pending the outcome. There’s not much more I can say at this stage.”
