Kerry footballer David Clifford and Tipperary hurler Bryan O'Mara have been named the Electric Ireland GAA Higher education footballer and hurler of the year respectively.
Both Clifford and O'Mara excelled for their college in the Sigerson and Fitzgibbon Cup earlier this year. Clifford led UL to the Sigerson Cup final before losing out to NUI Galway, while O'Mara led UL to victory in the Fitzgibbon cup, beating NUI Galway in the final.
Clifford was on fire for UL this year, scoring 6-22 in six Sigerson games, and notching 1-1 in the final in Carlow.
Clifford adds the award to his ever-growing collection of individual and team honours. The Fossa and East Kerry star already has three All-stars to his name, to go with his three Munster senior football titles.
Clifford was also named the GAA young player of the year for 2018.
O'Mara on the other hand, played a huge role in UL's Fitzgibbon cup victory. The Tipperary man led UL to their seventh title, and scored four points in a man of the match display in the final.
Although he has performed brilliantly for his University this year, O'Mara is not a part of the Tipperary panel for this year's Munster Championship. The Holycross-Ballycahill star is taking a season out of intercounty hurling to go travelling.
Clifford however, has been in fine form for Kerry in the Championship this season. And while the scoring machine recently opened up on becoming a father, he is laser-focused on winning Sam Maguire this summer.
