David Beckham's son sends message to Arsenal star William Saliba amid contract decision

Arsenal star William Saliba continues to gain new fans with his stellar performances in defence for Mikel Arteta's side.

Saliba joined the Gunners back in 2019 but found himself being sent out on loan to continue his development as a player for the past three seasons. Following an exceptional campaign with Marseille last term in which Saliba was crucial to the Ligue 1 side returning to the UEFA Champions League and picking up the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Season award, the 21-year-old now finds himself as a starter for Arsenal.

Saliba has scored two goals in his first seven appearances for Mikel Arteta's side, playing every minute of the season so far, highlighting the positive impact he has in both defensive and in attacking situations. The defender has been called up by France for the upcoming international break and he will be hoping he can impress and continue his form to earn a spot in the squad for the 2022 World Cup.

Saliba scored the opening goal in the 3-0 win against Brentford at the weekend with a towering header that looped in off the post as Arsenal remain top of the Premier League heading into the international break.

Whilst the likes of Paul Merson, Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have all been impressed with the young Frenchman since his return to the Emirates Stadium, it seems Saliba has a new fan in David Beckham's son, Romeo.

The 21-year-old posted a picture of himself celebrating on Instagram with the caption: "Good win before the break." It was a comment from Romeo Beckham that caught fans attention as it seems the list of admirers for Saliba continues to grow.

Beckham's son commented a simple message to Saliba as he posted two goat emojis, hinting that the he believes the Arsenal defender is one of the best around. The French defender is clearly enjoying his time with the Gunners and recently admitted he feels 'at home' with Mikel Arteta's side.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Saliba said: "I'm at home here. I like London, I like the club, I like everything. I feel at home here."

He earned plenty of praise from Arteta post-match, with the Arsenal boss revealing why his performance was even more impressive than it first looked to the Gunners fans watching. The Spaniard said: "He was superb.

"He hasn’t trained for 10 days because he had some discomfort, but he comes in and competes like that. Not only the goal and his defending but he does the ugly part of the game that people won’t recognise. He deserves credit."
