David Beckham's key piece of advice to son Brooklyn during his father of the groom wedding speech

Victoria Beckham has already called it 'beautiful' but now David Beckham's key piece of advice from his father of the groom speech at Brooklyn's wedding has been revealed.

The eldest son of the Spice Girl turned fashion designer and former footballer got married in a fancy ceremony in Palm Beach, Florida in April. Aspiring chef and photographer Brooklyn and actress Nicola Peltz exchanged vows in front of their star-studded guests at her billionaire financier dad Nelson's oceanfront estate, two years after announcing their engagement.

Sharing details from their big day in a joint interview with British Vogue magazine, it was revealed byt the newlyweds that a number of speeches were given following the ceremony, including from David and Brooklyn’s brothers Romeo and Cruz, who had both served as his best men.

Nicola's brother, Brad Peltz, who acted as her man of honour on the big day, also got up to speak and offered the couple two bits of invaluable advice. "Rule number one: Happy wife, happy life. Rule number two: Don’t f**k up rule number one."

While not as stern, David's advice followed a similar theme. Offering his own sage advice for a happy marriage: "He said, ‘The most important thing is to make each other happy. And treat your Mrs like gold,'" Brooklyn shared.

The former Manchester United star also referred to Brooklyn's outfit at his parents' wedding, where David and Victoria dressed him in a miniature cowboy hat. Brooklyn joked: "I'm sure we still have that hat somewhere."

The couple have shared more intimate details about their big day with Vogue. Transformers actress Nicola wore a custom Valentino dress for the occasion and revealed her mother, Claudia, had a touching alteration made to the gown without her knowing. The former model requested the seamstress embroider an evil eye to protect her daughter and instructed them to use baby blue thread to write: "Nicola, my heart. You are me, I am you. All my love, all my life, my beautiful girl, inside and out. Love, mom."

Speaking about the surprise, the bride said: "I’m happy she showed that to me after the ceremony, because I just burst into tears." And in response to seeing his wife for the first time as she walked down the aisle, Brooklyn added: "The highlight of the whole wedding for me was seeing her for the first time in that dress. It was the first time ever in my life when I felt like I couldn’t catch my breath."

For another unique touch on their big day, the pair revealed they also brought in a Wendy’s food van, a US fast food chain in which Peltz’s father is a major investor, at the after-party. Brooklyn said: “It was my idea, a perfect final touch," with Peltz adding: "We didn’t eat at all until we got to the Wendy’s truck, and then I had three burgers."

Earlier this month, in a new interview with Grazia magazine, fashion designer Victoria revealed about her son and new daughter-in-law's big day: "It's a big deal, your child getting married. I was very emotional. David's speech was beautiful."

She also shared how the Beckhams enlisted the help of close family friend and their son Cruz Beckham's godfather Marc Anthony for the entertainment. The singer sang four songs, while DJ Fat Tony was in charge of the decks at the after-party.

"Marc and Fat Tony did an amazing job too – they always do," Victoria said. "It seems like yesterday that David was holding Brooklyn in his little purple cowboy hat and outfit at our wedding – now our baby is married."
