David Beckham has once more missed out on a knighthood in the New Year's Honours list, despite queuing for hours to pay respect to the late Queen after her death.
The former footballer - nicknamed Goldenballs - had previously been ruled out of a knighthood in past years, due to using a tax avoidance scheme.
And although he no longer uses the scheme, he was once again snubbed from the list in 2022, despite waiting for hours to file past the Queen's coffin as she lay in state in Westminster Palace following her death in September.

Leicester Mercury reports that Beckham was previously awarded an OBE in 2003, but the now 46-year-old was one of a number of celebs caught up in a tax avoidance scheme in 2013.
But Beckham has reportedly received the all-clear from HM Revenue and Customs, which means he can now be moved to the official recommendations list after outstanding issues were resolved.
In an illustrious playing career, Beckham made more than 700 senior club appearances, more than half of them for Manchester United, where he won the 1999 Champions League final and several Premier League titles. His 115 England appearances also make him the third highest-capped player for the men's side, behind only Wayne Rooney and Peter Shilton.
No current active England players have reached triple figures.
The 2022 New Year’s honour list includes knighthoods for the likes of Professors Chris Witty and Jonathan Van-Tam, who have headed up much of the UK’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic, while actors Joanna Lumley and Vanessa Redgrave have received damehoods.
