David Beckham hoping to reunite four Barcelona stars at Inter Miami including Lionel Messi

David Beckham has reportedly got some grand plans at Inter Miami after the Qatar World Cup this winter to reunite Lionel Messi with his old Barcelona pals. The Argentine left the Nou Camp last year in a shock free transfer.

Having created his Major League Soccer franchise back in 2018, Beckham has been keen to show as much ambition as possible. He wants to make his Inter Miami team one of the biggest in the world while the club has some huge riches.

Having popularised LA Galaxy in his playing career, since moving upstairs into an ownership role the American dream is still very much alive for the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star. And that involves trying to sign some of the biggest names in world football.

By doing so, his plan is to take football in the United States to another level on and off the pitch. And they do not get much bigger than some of the names that he is keen on signing for Inter Miami.

According to Sport, Beckham wants to reunite Messi with Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets to recreate his very own Barcelona dream team. The four have won countless trophies at the Nou Camp, including the treble in 2015.

Since then, Messi and Suarez have left the Catalan club while Alba and Busquets remain. But their ages mean that new coach Xavi is looking at new options which could pave the way for their departures.

And Beckham is looking to take advantage of the that situation by offering the two Spaniards a major pay day as their careers start to wane. The two remain key players at Barcelona but it might be time for new blood.

Alba turned 33 last week and has a contract until 2024 whereas Busquets will see his deal come to an end in 2023 and has already admitted he is thinking of a move to the MLS. Messi and Suarez have long been linked with an Inter Miami switch, which the duo have not ruled out.

Suarez will become a free agent in the summer and would likely accept a move to the States while Messi has hardly had the happiest time since signing for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last year. A return to the Nou Camp is not off the cards, either, but the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has previously stated that he intends to see out his career in America.

In December 2020, Messi admitted: “I would like to play in the United States someday, it’s always been one of my dreams, but I don't know if it will happen." But that would involve PSG willing to let the Argentine leave, which would be unlikely is Kylian Mbappe departs for Real Madrid.
