David Attenborough's Planet Earth II live in concert at Leeds First Direct Arena this week

It has been delayed three times but Planet Earth II Live in Concert has officially begun with a bang and will arrive in Leeds on Thursday, March 24.

The award-winning show, narrated by the national treasure David Attenborough was awe-inspiring even before it took to the stage but now viewers will find themselves listening to the live soundtrack alongside specially selected footage and stunning shots.

The soundtrack is scored by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and Jasha Klebe. The narration will be live, courtesy of science and natural history TV presenter Liz Bonnin.

Liz said: "It gives us a chance to introduce some of the most iconic clips from the Planet Earth II series from 2016 in front of a philharmonic orchestra playing the music of Hans Zimmer and also Jacob Shea and Jasha Klebe, the Bleeding Fingers Music team. It was actually Hans Zimmer’s first collaboration with the Natural History Unit and when I did the panel for the show interviewing him, the producers and of course, Sir David Attenborough, he said that even though he really wanted to get on board was he has a passion for the planet, he never realised just how extraordinary the planet really was until was writing the score.

"He even said that this is one of the pieces, the theme in particular, that he’s the proudest of across all his work. Personally, it’s music that sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it, so to have a live orchestra playing it all in a huge arena with the visuals on a massive screen is going to be something very special.”

Liz believes the show will raise what viewers are seeing and hearing to a whole level, saying: "It's hard to put into words just how much of an impact it has.

Tickets cost upwards of £50 but children under 14 are entitled to a £10 discount. There is £5 discount per ticket for groups booking of 10 or more. However, there are limited tickets available and can be found through the official site here.
