Dave Vos and the Rangers transfer influence as Ajax philosophy shapes summer trend

Gio van Bronckhorst has had a quiet summer at Rangers with John Souttar being the only new arrival at Ibrox that will go straight into the first-team picture.

However, there has been a host of recruits for the youth academy and going into the Lowland League Colt team with a focus on younger talent dominating the early window deals. Millwall prospect Zak Lovelace is set to leave The Den for the Europa League finalists to headline a host of early additions that will hope to impress in the youth ranks before making the move to the Premiership side.

While fans will be hoping to see the likes of Antonio Colak kickstart a signing spree for Rangers, but the only done deals coming out of Ibrox appears to be from the academy sides. The philosophy could be being influence by assistant manager Dave Vos and his ability to turn prospects into elite level players. Gio van Bronckhorst 's number two spent almost a decade at Ajax working with the under-17 and under-18 side.

And perhaps the greatest string in his bow is helping in the development of Matthijs de Ligt, Donny van de Beek and Frenkie de Jong as he brought through some of the talent at the Ajax academy. The youth guru will now look to make the same influence with Rangers next season, with the likes of Alex Lowry and Leon King already thrust into the first-team picture following his Ibrox arrival.

Vos will have been assessing the Ibrox kids since his arrival in November last year, and will have no doubt had his say on the type of players he wants to help mould into top-team stars. He will look to create the next crop of Ibrox entertainers, previously stating: "I'm an attacking coach who wants to entertain the public. I always try to pass that on to my players. We play at a level where winning is linked to good football, that's the most important thing."

The platform is there for the host of B team additions in the Scottish fifth tier to catch the eye. With the focus of the window so far on the future it's clear Van Bronckhorst and sporting director Ross Wilson has faith in Vos' plans for next term.
