Dave King in Rangers hard-hitting statement as he accuses board over 'shroud of secrecy'

Dave King has written to the Ibrox board in a hard hitting statement insisting that there is a 'shroud of secrecy' around the club.

The former Rangers chairman is still keeps close tabs on activities both on and off the pitch both as a fan and the largest shareholder at the club. He hasn't been shy in voicing his opinion with his latest blast coming just days after their 4-0 hammering by Ajax in the Champions League.

That defeat added the pressure on to boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst after losing out to Old Firm rivals Celtic by the same scoreline ahead of their trip to Amsterdam. King admits he has become 'increasingly alarmed' at what he is seeing and has asked for future transparency, honesty and respect for shareholders and fans alike going forward in his open letter.

As reported by the Daily Record, the note to directors reads: “I have been closely following the club’s activities on and off the pitch and as a supporter (and still largest shareholder) I have become increasingly alarmed about what I am witnessing. Being a director of Rangers is a privilege that comes with an individual and collective responsibility that appears to have been absent from decision making for some time now.

"There is a shroud of secrecy around what is happening within the club and the lack of meaningful engagement with supporters and shareholders, who are entitled to a greater degree of respect, is completely unacceptable.

“The supporters being increasingly treated as customers rather than people who give their hearts, souls and hard-earned money to Rangers.

"Rangers fans know only too well the pain and suffering that can come from a lack of scrutiny over those entrusted to protect our club.

"Disconcertingly, the efforts to avoid scrutiny from supporters and the mainstream media seem to be a deliberate attempt to avoid taking responsibility.

"This is why I am forced to speak out at this time by sending an open letter to the board and by asking for future transparency, honesty and respect for all supporters and shareholders.”
