While basking in the glory of upsetting Clemson 24–17, NC State coach Dave Doeren used the moment to call out ESPN’s College GameDay guest picker Steve Smith for picking against his team.
During Saturday’s pick segment, the former NFL wideout said that despite the Tigers’ pedestrian season, with a 4–3 record entering the showdown, Wolfpack fans were looking more towards the basketball season.
"Clemson has been struggling. They're not the Clemson that we've loved over the years. But NC State, unfortunately, they're waiting for basketball to start," said Smith.

Following the slight earlier in the day, the Wolfpack coach used the post-game interview to issue a less-than-endearing message to Smith.
“Tell Steve Smith in the studio this ain’t a basketball school and he can kiss my ass,” said Doeren.

North Carolina State's win on Saturday was Doeren's 77th victory at the helm of the Wolfpack, tying him with Earle Edwards for the most wins in school history.
