When the Raiders surprised the NFL and acquired wide receiver Davante Adams, many wondered why, exactly, Adams wanted to leave the Packers to play in Las Vegas.
Was it to be closer to his family, who is from California? Maybe living in fabulous Las Vegas was a goal for Adams as well. Or perhaps he simply wanted to be reunited with his college teammate, quarterback Derek Carr.
Those were probably all factors to some extent. But one of Adams’ reasons for leaving Green Bay was less publicized.
He wants to win the Super Bowl with the Raiders.
Adams said as much on The Pivot Podcast, as transcribed by Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Adams also alluded to his well-chronicled relationship with Carr.

It seems Adams thinks the storyline surrounding his longtime friendship with Carr is a little too cute and fuzzy, to say the least.
Adams is the best WR in the NFL, he’s in his prime, and the next few seasons will significantly impact his legacy. The guy means business, and he believes Carr is an elite quarterback who can help him reach Super Bowl — and perhaps Hall of Fame — heights.
As for the Raiders, they chose to reload rather than rebuild after last year’s tumultuous campaign, which saw Carr and interim coach Rich Bisaccia lead the team to the playoffs. Adams is the largest embodiment of that philosophy, along with new coach Josh McDaniels.
So it’s no wonder Adams has his eyes on the Lombardi Trophy. And it appears Adams plans to transform the “cute” story of his reunion with Carr into a menacing predicament for the rest of the NFL.
