Davante Adams Gives Firm Answer About Future With Raiders Amid Trade Speculation

With the Raiders’ quarterback situation in a state of transition for the first time in nearly a decade after the franchise traded veteran Derek Carr, the trade rumor mill has swirled around star receiver Davante Adams. On Thursday, though, Adams addressed the media and put to bed any notions that he’s eyeing to leave Las Vegas.

Adams told reporters that he’s happy to be with the team, and highlighted his relationships in particular with head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler.

“At the end of the day, I’m a Raider, and I’m excited to be here. I love my head coach, and I love the general manager here, and everybody from the top to the bottom,” Adams said. “I have no reason to lie. One thing I don’t do is BS, so I’m not gonna make anything up when it comes to that. I’d rather keep my mouth closed if I have negative things to say. But when I say that these are some good men in this place that I really value the relationship that I have with them, I mean that.”

Adams also added that his goal is to win a Super Bowl with the Raiders, and had a message for those who speculated that he wanted out of Las Vegas: “If you guys are that bored, go play Monopoly or some s–t,” Adams said, per Ari Meirov.

Adams, 30, starred in his first season with the Raiders since being traded by the Packers. He started all 17 games, grabbing 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns. He earned a first-team All-Pro selection for the third consecutive year.

The Raiders went 6–11 last season, and released Carr in February. Carr later signed with the Saints in March, with Las Vegas signing former 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a three-year, $67.5 million contract.
