A Galway grandmother mauled to death by multiple dogs lost both legs in the horrifying attack, her heartbroken daughter has revealed.
Tragic Teresa McDonagh, 64, was tragically killed in the incident on June 4, 2017.
And her grief-stricken daughter Rosaleen has opened up about the shocking injuries her mum received. She also revealed that two adult Presa Canario dogs and a pup were responsible for the death.
She said: "She was a lovely woman. She didn't deserve this. It's beyond belief what happened, I never heard of anything like this before in my life.
"My mother lost both her legs in the attack. Those breed of dogs are huge, there were two adults and a pup.
"They destroyed her. She bled to death and was left there on her own. It is unimaginable. The thoughts of the pain and shock she must have suffered keep me awake at night."
Details of the attack are to be detailed in her inquest which is due to open in Galway Coroner's Court on Thursday, the Irish Sun has reported.
The horrific incident happened in a rural part of Moycullen, Co Galway.
It's understood she had called to her son Martin McDonagh’s home in Knockarasser where he lives with his wife and kids but nobody was in.
Teresa was pronounced dead at the scene and her remains were taken University Hospital Galway for a post mortem.
Daughter Rosaleen has now called for laws to change as the breed of dogs do not need a muzzle.
She told the newspaper: "It is so wrong what happened. She went to visit her grandchildren and never came home.
"I've been told officially that, that breed of dog, the Presa Canario is not on the restricted list and they don't need a muzzle.
"That means they are walking around with no restrictions and yet they savaged my mother.
"I want the laws changed, they all need to be muzzled and on a restricted list."
