Dates locked in for Australia's West Indies tour

Australia are bracing for a tight turnaround from the World Test Championship Final to their first West Indies Test series in the Caribbean for a decade.

Cricket Australia confirmed the dates for the three-match West Indies series the morning their second Test against Sri Lanka was beginning in Galle.

The team's first Caribbean-based Test since June 2015 will be played in Bridgetown, Barbados from June 25, only 10 days after the WTC Final is scheduled to finish at Lord's in London.

The team had only four days off between between the 2023 final and that year's first Ashes Test, but both were played in England.

This time, Australia will fly directly to the Caribbean after the final against South Africa.

The final two matches of the Frank Worrell Trophy will be played in Grenada and Jamaica, with the Test series set to conclude on July 16.

The matches are Australia's last Tests before England visit for the Ashes in the summer, and their first of the new WTC cycle.

The series marks Australia's first matches against West Indies since Shamar Joseph inspired the tourists to an unforgettable win at the Gabba in January 2024.

It will also be the first time Australia and West Indies have met for three matches since the home summer of 2015-16, after only two were initially planned.

Australia is also set to play five Twenty20 Internationals as part of their tour, the first two in Jamaica and the final three in Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis.

"Australia and the West Indies share a rich history, and we're delighted the Test series has been expanded to three matches," said Cricket Australia's executive general manager of national teams Ben Oliver.
