Date set for Ryan Tubridy and agent Noel Kelly to appear before Public Accounts Committee

Former Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy and his agent Noel Kelly are set to appear before the Public Accounts Committee next week.

They will be questioned by members of the Oireachtas next Tuesday at 11am. The date was agreed in private session by the Dail's public spending watchdog this morning.

It comes after Tubridy and Kelly both offered "to help" the Oireachtas Media Committee with their inquiries into RTE's non-disclosure of payments, following the now infamous undeclared €345,000 of additional payments to Mr Tubridy between 2017 to 2022.

The broadcaster was rocked by controversy again on Tuesday after it emerged that there are more so-called "barter accounts", similar to the one already at the centre of the Tubridy payments controversy.

Speaking prior to the news today, Chairperson of the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee Brian Stanley called for their meeting to be made available to the public. He told RTE Morning Ireland: "I believe that Ryan Tubridy and Noel Kelly need to come in and hear their side of it. I welcome the fact that the offer is there. I look forward to meeting them in public setting."

A letter from solicitors for Mr Tubridy and Mr Kelly to PAC said that the pair "wish to fully cooperate and assist with your Committee's investigations".

It added that Mr Tubridy and Mr Kelly "believe that they have important information that will assist the committee in its examination of these issues and clarify a number of matters that have arisen".

"Both Mr Tubridy and Mr Kelly kindly request to meet with your committee at a suitable time next week," the letter continues.

"They would welcome this opportunity to set out their position on these matters and then submit themselves to appropriate questioning from the members of the committee on what are clearly matters of public interest."
