Newcastle United's Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Leicester City has been selected for broadcast by Sky Sports. Eddie Howe's side face the Foxes on Boxing Day, before hosting the same opponents three weeks' later for the knockout tie on January 10.
The Magpies returned to competitive action with a hard-fought fourth-round win over Bournemouth on Tuesday night, with an own-goal from Adam Smith settling the contest. Newcastle's reward for this victory was a third successive home tie, and a re-run of the second round clash in 2019 which saw Leicester prevail in a penalty shootout.
The quarter-final draw was staged at the Etihad Stadium shortly after Manchester City's thrilling win over Liverpool on Thursday night. The Premier League champions trip to face Southampton has also been selected for live coverage by Sky Sports, and has been scheduled for January 10.

The other quarter-final ties see Manchester United host League One outfit Charlton Athletic, with Wolves travelling to face Nottingham Forest. Newcastle have been named third favourites by the bookmakers to lift their first domestic trophy since 1955, with City unsurprisingly tipped to win once again.
Kick-off for the eagerly-anticipated clash with the Foxes is scheduled for 8pm, with ticket details to be announced in due course. It is the latest fixture in what is proving to be a hectic schedule for Newcastle, following hot on the heels of a top-of-the-table encounter at Arsenal, and a potential FA Cup banana skin with a third-round encounter at Sheffield Wednesday.
