Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has taken to social media to express his delight at opening his account for the club during their Community Shield win over rivals Manchester City.
The Uruguayan was named among the substitutes for the season's curtain raiser on Saturday evening as Trent Alexander-Arnold opened the scoring in the first-half with a curling effort. Nunez entered the fray shortly before the hour mark but Pep Guardiola's side hit back through Julian Alvarez.
Jurgen Klopp noted in his pre-match interview that the 23-year-old would feature and when he did he had an immediate impact, going close with a one-on-one which was well-saved by Ederson. But after combining with Mohamed Salah, his header was diverted off target by the hand of Ruben Dias and after consultation with the VAR monitor, the Reds were awarded a penalty.

The Egyptian King duly delivered from 12 yards. And after seven minutes of stoppage time was added on, Andy Robertson's cut-back was met by the diving forward to send the adoring Liverpool fans into raptures as they sealed their first piece of silverware of the season and a first Community Shield win for the German manager.
Taking to social media, Nunez posted a number of tweets and Instagram messages. He tweeted: "Give me that shield," before following it up with: "First official goal at LFC and the first trophy."
The former Benfica striker took flak during pre-season as his displays went under the microscope. He followed it up with a quadruple against RB Leipzig but the critics soon swarmed again as Liverpool slumped to a 1-0 defeat in Austria against RB Salzburg - but his reaction to opening his account for the club said it all.
